The day begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, driving through the foothills toward the Marangu Gate, the starting point of your Kilimanjaro adventure. Upon arrival at the gate, your guide will brief you and finalize the permits before starting the hike through the lush rainforest. The trail ascends gently as you immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the mountain’s lower slopes. Along the way, you’ll encounter towering eucalyptus trees, colorful flora, and the sounds of wildlife, including the famous colobus monkeys. After a few hours of trekking, you’ll reach Mandara Hut at 2,720 meters (8,920 feet) above sea level. Here, you’ll take a break to rest, enjoy a packed lunch, and explore the Maundi Crater, which offers stunning views of the surrounding plains. After soaking in the views, you’ll begin the descent back through the forest, returning to the Marangu Gate by late afternoon. The day concludes with a drive back to your hotel, where you’ll arrive in the early evening, full of memories of your Kilimanjaro experience.
